Top 10 Foodgressing Moments 2015

2015 has been a year of crazy, awesome, yummy food aventures.  I am so thankful to have this blog and for you to have followed me on my foodie journey.  From decadent ice cream to seafood tacos to awesome table spreads, I am sharing with you my top 10 foodgressing moments of 2015.

1.  International Summer Market

The International Summer Market had such a variety of tantalizing eats from twist potatoes to deep fried Mars bars to fish-shaped waffles.  It was a fun evening to walk around the open-air market while eating street food.

2.  Cultivate

Foodgressing Moments

Cultivate was a farm-to-table event held in the Fraser Valley to celebrate agriculture and community.  Picture being in a beautiful outdoor setting next to a corn field and enjoying a longtable dinner made with locally sourced, sustainably grown ingredients with passionate and like-minded individuals.  That was Cultivate.  The event was amazingly beautiful as it was taken right out of Pinterest.  Cultvate was a definite success and showcased the unique and talented vendors from the Fraser Valley.

3.  Fondway Cafe Table Spread

I was totally in awe of the droolworthy table spread of salads, soups, and sandiwiches at the Fondway Cafe media event.  All the food was so cute and Instagram-worthy.  There certainly was no shortage of photos taken at the event.

4.  Sweet Jesus in Toronto

Just look at *this* cone.  The campfire s’more soft serve from Sweet Jesus takes eating ice cream to the next level.

5.  Meowlicious Eats at Catfe

Catfe-Vancouver

I loved getting up close and purr-sonal with the resident cats at Catfe, Vancouver’s first cat café.  My meowlicious eat included a Earl Grey ganache macaron that looked like Hello Kitty.

6. Ain’t No Party Like A Gastropost Party

This past summer, Gastropost celebrated their 100th mission with a party at Yew Restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel.  There were some serious foodies at the Gastropost Vancouver event, and more than enough amazing snacks and beverages by Yew to satisfy each and every one of them.  My favourite at the event was the dungeness crab tacos which were out of this world not only in presentation and taste.  It was zesty, sweet and really *delicious*.  I even found the Chef Ned Bell’s recipe here.

7.  Taste of Aberdeen

Taste of Aberdeen

60 hungry foodies, 20 food vendors, 30 dishes and a 2.5 hour feast.  That was Taste of Aberdeen.  At the event, I sampled some of the best dishes that the Aberdeen Centre Food Court has to offer.  It was one crazy night with what seemed like an endless incoming of dishes.

8.  La Banquise in Montreal

La Banquise Poutine

It was amazing foodgressing moment to have visited the legendary La Banquise in Montreal with 30 types of mouthwatering.  Open 24 hours a day, they satisfy poutine cravings at all hours of the day.  We indulged in La T-Rex (ground beef, pepperoni, bacon and hot-dog sausage) and La Taquise (guacamole, sour cream and tomatoes).

9.  Vancouver Food Cart Fest

Foodgressing Moments of 2015

This year’s Food Cart Fest was bigger and better with more food carts and entertainment programming.  One of my favourite foodgressing moments was when I took a bite of out the oh-so-delicious Hoisin Chicken Roll from Eat Chicken Wraps.  Made of chicken, salad, Hoisin sauce in a green onion pancake, the wrap was full of sweet and sour flavour and the pancake was deliciously crispy.

10.  Peaked Pies in Whistler

Peaked Pies - Whistler, BC | Foodgressing.com

On my trip to Whistler, I visited Peaked Pies and tried the traditional Aussie pie with a peak.  The presentation of the peaked pie was just mouthwatering.  The pie was hot and hearty with yummy gravy from the peak and from the filling inside.  The portion of ground beef on the inside was reasonable as well.  The crust was deliciously flaky and buttery.  I can’t wait to go to Whistler again so I can indulge in this pie!

A big thank YOU for following my food adventures.  Look out for more foodgressing moments in the next year and I wish you a delicious 2016!  xoxo
