Dine Around and Stay in Town Victoria 2019: Finn’s Restaurant Media Preview

Victoria’s most anticipated annual foodie event, Dine Around and Stay in Town, returns January 25 – February 10, 2019. Over 50 local restaurants are offering set-price, three-course menus while Victoria’s hotels also will join in the fun and offer accommodations at reduced prices.

One of the participating restaurant’s in Dine Around 2019 is Finn’s Harbourfront Restaurant and Oyster Bar. Located in an 1882 heritage building, Finn’s is a restaurant with a focus on sustainably caught seafood, AAA steaks and chops cut in house, as well as a selection of fresh causal fare.

Finn’s is also known for their classic cocktails, served strong and cold, and featuring 3 oz martinis shaken or stirred at your table.

I had the opportunity to preview the Finn’s $40 3-Course Dine Around 2019 menu with optional wine and beer pairings. Here’s a look at what we tried.

First Course

To start, I had a very creamy and seafood-plentiful smoked bacon and leek chowder with diced vegetables.

Others media had the fresh steamed local mussels with choice of red coconut curry, leeks and carrots or classic white wine and garlic.

Second Course

I was very impressed with the rich flavours, freshness and generous seafood portions of the Haida Gwaii Steam Bowl. The bowl featured fresh local mussels & clams, wild prawns, calamari, Thai red coconut curry, leeks, carrots, cilantro, and steamed jasmine rice. Highly recommend this entree.

Others had Double Thick Pork Chop (14 oz) with Red Wine Peppercorn Demi-Glace.  The pork chop was seriously thick! The dish also came with Yukon gold whipped potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Third Course

To finish off a fantastic meal, you have choice of a Potted Orange & Vanilla Bean Cream, Fresh Raspberries & Raspberry Coulis or a Mason Jar Key Lime Pie.
