I’m making a personal goal this summer to find the best places for gelato on Granville Island. What better way to refresh oneself after exploring Granville Island than a delicious scoop of gelato? To start off this quest, I tried Pizza Pzazz located inside the Granville Island market.
At Pizza Pzazz, you can find pizza slices in a warmer, pasta, salads and house-made gelato. In particular, they offer caesar salad; tomato or cream pesto pasta; pasta and salad; and spaghetti and meatballs. A pizza slice is $4.25 while a gourmet one is $4.75. For the gelato, you can enjoy a single scoop ($4.50) and a double scoop ($6.00). Make it a waffle cone for an extra $0.50.
What I Tried
I tried two flavours from Pzazz: the Rocky Road and Biscotti Cookie. The flavours were on point with the Biscotti tasting quite closely to an actual one. The textures were also good – dense, smooth and creamy. The only criticism I have is that in the display case the flavours were presented with quite a few extra ingredients like marshmallows in the Rocky Road and cookie crumbs for the Biscotti Cookie. When I received the cones, it was mostly gelato and I had thought it would have more of the extra toppings.
Overall Impression of Pizza Pzazz
Pizza Pzazz’s gelato is pretty good overall. In the display case, the Rocky Road and Biscotti Cookie were presented with marshmallows and cookie crumbs on top. However, the cones I received were just mostly gelato. A little disappointing in that respect. Rating: 3/5
