Tuc Craft Kitchen Dinner Menu for Summer 2019

Tuc Craft Kitchen in Gastown has unveiled an updated menu of comfort-food favourites that’s also light and refreshing for the summer palate.

The Gastown favourite which is known for serving rustic, seasonal, farm-to-table fare has also launched a new lineup of cocktail and wine features including Odd Society Sundays and Rose-All-Day Mondays.

I was recently invited to a tasting of the summer menu with wine pairings. Here’s a look at some of the Tuc’s new summer offerings.

Starters

Baked Ricotta

House-made ricotta, warm olives, sheeps milk parmesan. Paired with Sperling Vineyards ‘Vision’ ’15 Chardonnay | Okanagan Valley, BC.

Sunset Salad

Baby shrimp, strawberries, tender greens, lemon vinaigrette, carrot lime puree. Paired with Culmina ‘Unicus’ ’16 Grüner Veltliner | Okanagan Valley, BC.

Oceanwise Togarashi Ahi Tuna

Seared Ahi Tuna, tumeric & garlic infused rice noodles, seasonal vegetables, cilantro dressing. Paired with Bella ‘Buddha’s Blend’ Rosé ’18 Gamay & Chardonnay | Okanagan Valley, BC.

I enjoyed the garlicky, thin, smooth and silky rice noodles with the perfectly seared ahi tuna pieces.

Lentil Hash Mole Verde

Black lentils, sweet peas, roasted mushrooms, corn, pea greens. Paired with Herdade do Esporão ‘Monte Velho’ ’16 | Antão Vaz + | Alentejano, PT.

Ribs ‘n Fries

Orange & jalapeño glazed side ribs, curly yam fries, red slaw. Paired with Anarchist ‘Mayhem’ ’16 Merlot | Osoyoos, BC

The curly yam fries were a fun touch and I enjoy the light, sweet and spicy flavours of the orange glaze.

Oceanwise Seafood Étouffée

BC mussels & manila clams, prawns, squid, creole tomato sauce, dirty rice. Paired with Maetierra ‘Atlantis’ ’17 Albariño | Rías Baixas, ES.

This dish was right up my alley as I love seafood and the creole tomato sauce gave it some light spicy flavours while the dirty rice made it more of a comforting dish.

I tought all the dishes were light and refreshing but my favourites the Oceanwise Togarashi Tuna and Seafood Etouffee.
