Thursday, May 16 is National Caesar Day and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Caesar. Here are a few Caesar recipes created by local hot spots in Vancouver.
Lemon Beer Caesar
Jetside Bar at Fairmont Vancouver Airport is featuring a Lemon Beer Caesar with local lemon pale ale from Four Winds Brewing in Delta, BC, Absolute vodka, Grand Marnier, lemon juice and Mott’s Caesar mix. And the garnish? Fresh dill and smoked salmon.

1.5oz Absolute Citro
.5oz Grand Marnier
.5oz Lemon Juice
Tabasco
Worcester Sauce
Motts Caesar Mix
Lemon Pale Ale
Garnished with Dill & Smoked Salmon
Coastline Caesar
At Fairmont Pacific Rim, a perfect recipe for the home mixologist, the Coastline Caesar was created by Botanist head bartender, Jeff Savage who was inspired by Canada’s vast 265,523 kilometers of coastline. Using local ingredients and suppliers, the recipe profiles scents and flavours specific to the Pacific Northwest.
INGREDIENTS
1 oz Sheringham Vodka
½ oz Sheringham Aquavit
¾ oz Smoked Cedar Tisane
3 oz Walter’s Caesar Mix
1 Dash Bittered Sling Cascade Celery Bitters
METHOD
Rim glass with Old Bay Seasoning. Garnish with a dill front and small piece of smoked salmon and serve on a small cedar plank.
Juke Caesar
Juke Fried Chicken is featuring the Juke Caesar, which blends its housemade Juke Caesar mix (a blend of Thai basil, cilantro, pickled chilies, lime juice and maple syrup) with vodka, lemon juice, Clamato and a couple dashes of hot sauce and is topped with a lime, Thai basil and a chicharron for a spicy-sweet Caesar.
INGREDIENTS
1 oz. Skyy vodka
1 oz. Juke Caesar Mix
0.5 oz. Lemon Juice
2 dashes hot sauce
Clamato to top
METHOD
- Rim a Collins glass with celery salt.
- Add vodka, Caesar mix, lemon juice and hot sauce to glass.
- Add ice, top with Clamato.
- Garnish with a lime, thai basil and a chicharron.
JUKE CAESAR MIX
¼ cup Thai basil
¼ cup cilantro
¼ cup pickled chilies
¼ cup lime juice
1/8 cup maple syrup
METHOD
Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth.
