Newly opened just two weeks ago on Denman is Chimec offering good ole fried chicken.
They are currently offering takeout and delivery with a special 20% discount if you pick up in person.
Chimec Vancouver Menu
Chimec’s menu is simple and focused. You’ll find fried chicken leg & thigh combos, chicken tenders, chicken wings and a few sides like fries, onion rings, and salads.
I found out about them on Instagram and got a few things to try. I pre-ordered ahead of the pickup and when I arrived it was all ready for me. I liked their sweet thank you note on the bag.
What I Tried
- Signature Chimec Burger
- Fried Chicken Leg and Thighs
- Chicken Tenders
- Sauce: Korean sweet and spicy; Soy
- Cinnamon Donuts (complimentary)
I thought their fried chicken was delicious – a satisfying crispy batter on the outside, tender on the inside and not too greasy. The meat wasn’t the most juicy I have had but it was moist enough.
Also, getting the sauces gave the fried chicken some extra oomph so you can customize the taste to your liking. For me, the Korean sweet and spicy sauce made the fried chicken even more delicious.
The Chimec Burger was super tasty and very good value for $12. It featured a full deep-fried chicken breast with creamy coleslaw, pickled onions and sweet pickles on a buttered and toasted brioche bun.
The chicken tenders were pretty good too.
The cinnamon donuts were a nice way to finish off the meal. Light and fluffy, yet soft and sweet on the inside.
Overall Impression of Chimec Vancouver
In general, everything was very good and reasonably priced. I had been going to Juke Fried Chicken on Davie before they changed concept so I was missing a local fried chicken joint (aside from KFC). Looks like I will be a repeat customer of Chimec. Rating: 4/5
