The iconic dining establishment, Tojo’s, has just launched Cocktail Hour from Thursday to Saturday 4 pm – 6 pm featuring new libations and a seasonal small bites menu.
Guests can expect a delicious new cocktail list, as Tojo’s has teamed up with award-winning mixologist and Canada’s Top Bartender 2019, Jeff Savage.
New tipples like Tokaido 53 (a vibrant martini riff), Salaryman (unique take on a Manhattan), and Kitsune Gimlet (made with yuzu, Kazuki Gin, and honey) are on the menu.
Spirit-free creations such as Yuzuyu (Seedlip, yuzu, and nutmeg) and Nitobe Garden Fizz (featuring earthy, matcha and herb notes) will also be available.
Chef Hidekazu Tojo has created a new small bites menu (updated seasonally) to pair with the new cocktail list. Guests will be able to enjoy dishes like Citrus + Sea Salt Wings, Dragon’s Sweet Potato Fritters, Miso Mustard Lotus Root, Seafood Salad, Tojo’s Tuna, and so forth.
At a media tasting, we were able to enjoy a variety of drinks from the cocktails list paired with small bites.
JAPANESE HIGHBALL: Inspired by the delicate, nuanced whiskey highballs so popular in Japan, this drink combines Suntory Toki with Bittered Sling Lem-Marrakech Bitters and soda. Paired with Citrus and Sea Salt Wings, and Miso Mustard Lotus Root.
TOKAIDO 53: A vibrant martini riff inspired by journeys on the ancient road connecting Kyoto and Edo. Bison Grass Vodka, Kazuki Gin, Herb and Citrus Oil. Paired with Tojo’s Tuna and Edamame.
SALARYMAN: A stern cocktail best used to signal the end of the workday. Japanese Whisky Blend, Notes of and Matcha and Black Sesame. Paired with Seafood Salad.
TOJO’S MILK PUNCH: Eastern flavours and Western techniques meet in this milk punch, named after the Iconoclast himself. Bank’s 5 Island Rum, Shiso, Sencha, Mint, Lime, Clarified Milk. Paired with Dashimaki + Caviar and Tojo Roll.
KITSUNE GIMLET: A bright, fresh cocktail that’s as cunning and playful as it’s mythical namesake Kazuki Gin with Yuzu and Honey. Paired with Dragon’s Sweet Potatoes and Nanban Zuke.
NITOBE GARDEN FIZZ: Vibrancy and earthly bounty come together in this drink honouring the beautiful Nitobe Memorial Garden. Seedlip Carden 108, Matcha, Herb, Citrul Oil, Soda. Paired with Tojo’s Pickles.
Available Thursday to Saturday from 4 pm – 6 pm, Cocktail Hour at Tojo’s is walk-ins only and reservations are not accepted.
