Move over maple! Did you know that our nation’s favourite flavour is chocolate? In this year’s Savour Serenity Survey conducted by Loacker, 72% of Canadians selected chocolate as their favourite sweet flavour.
Canada loves the classics, with chocolate, strawberry and vanilla selected as the country’s favourite flavours. Maple, the quintessential Canadian flavour, came in 6th place, behind blueberries and raspberries – but did rank as Quebec’s favourite flavour.
To help satisfy this craving for chocolate, Loacker – the Italian heritage brand specializing in premium wafer biscuits – is launching new flavours this summer, including Double Chocolate wafers.
Recipes Celebrating Pure Goodness and Canadian Classics
To celebrate the best ingredients nature has to offer, Loacker has created ten recipes inspired by iconic Canadian desserts and Canada’s favourite flavours. Here are some highlights.
Nanaimo Bars: Chocolate wafer biscuits are flaked into the crust of this quintessential West Coast dish.
Maple Sugar Bars: Canadian through-and-through, this recipe adds maple and a light wafer crunch to the classic tarte au sucre.
S’mores Brownies: Inspired by summer at the cottage, layers of marshmallow, crisp wafer biscuits and chocolate combine for this take on a nostalgic treat.
