July 2018 Food and Drink Events in Vancouver

July is filled with delicious food events happening in the city.  Check out this list featuring seafood boils, beer pairing dinners, cooking classes and more.

July 1 – Sunday Seafood Boil at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar is bringing back its popular Sunday Seafood Boil for a fourth consecutive year.  The weekly dinner series takes place on Boulevard’s picturesque downtown patio.  Executive Chef Roger Ma and their talented culinary team will once again unveil a bounty of fresh-caught seafood, including jumbo prawns, clams, mussels, crawfish and Dungeness crab.  Guests are invited to pull up a chair and tuck into a true, East Coast-inspired communal seafood spread piled high on butcher’s paper and served with all the fixings, including Boulevard’s signature bacon cornbread and sweet Beignets for dessert.  Tickets are $65 per person (plus gratuity, taxes and service fees) and available online via Eventbrite.

July 4 – Brasserie & the Beest at Wildebeest

Craft beer connoisseurs can get an exclusive taste of an award-winning Quebec brewery when Wildebeest welcomes Brasserie Dunham for ‘Brasserie & The Beest’ on Wednesday, July 4 at 6:30 p.m.  Guests will also have the opportunity to meet-and-greet with Brasserie Dunham brewmaster Eloi Deit, while he guides them through an exclusive selection of unique beers that are unavailable in BC outside of this event.  Tickets to Wildebeest’s one-night-only ‘Brasserie & The Beest’ event are available for $39 per person plus tax and gratuity and may be purchased online.

July 5 – Chef Alex Chen cooking class at Dirty Apron

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar’s Chef Alex Chen – Gold winner of the 2018 Canadian Culinary Championship – will be showing off his culinary chops during a special ‘Demo and Dine’ event at Gastown’s Dirty Apron Cooking School.  Chef Chen will prepare a delicious and innovative four-course tasting meal as guests sit back, relax and learn by watching, listening and tasting.  Chen will walk through each course step-by-step, Chef Chen will share his tips, tricks and tools of the trade and then serve each demonstrated dish alongside a glass of wine

July 13 – French Fry Day

Get that FRY-DAY feeling at Bells and Whistles on Friday, July 13.  In honour of National French Fry Day, the buzzing Fraserhood beer hall will be offering a special one-day-only promotion on its lineup of deluxe fries. Guests who order a burger or sandwich can upgrade a standard side of fries to ‘fancy fries’ of their choice for free ($5 savings):

  • Chilli Cheese Fries (Ballpark chilli and aged cheddar)
  • Chowder Fries (cream corn, locally caught fish, fresh dill, paprika)
  • Curry Fries (lamb curry, mint-lime yogurt, braised chickpeas, cilantro)

July 26 – Tacofino x Phillips Brewing Beer Dinner

Tacofino’s perennially sold-out beer dinner series returns this July with guest brewers Phillips Brewing & Mating Co.  The dinner will offer a variety of beers from the Victoria-based craft brewery paired with a custom, five-course menu designed by Tacofino Regional Executive Chef Stefan Hartmann.  Tickets to Tacofino’s Beer Dinner Series events on July 26 — with seating times offered at 6 and 8:30 p.m. — are available for $50 per person inclusive of taxes, gratuity and ticketing fees via Eventbrite.

July 29 – Brewery and the Beast

Brewery and the Beast returns this summer for meaty eats and sips from some of the region’s best craft brewers.  Restaurants from across the city will be partnering with local farmers to showcase a range of carnivorous bites to pair with craft brews at the sprawling food and drink event taking place in the Concord Pacific Lot.  This year’s roster of participating restaurants includes Heritage Asian Eatery, Juke Fried Chicken, Café Medina, Railtown Catering & Wildebeest.
