If you are looking for some tasty Chinese BBQ eats, you might just want to visit Hopewell Chinese Kitchen. Located at the Vancouver 1st Avenue Marketplace above T&T Supermarket, Hopewell is a little family-run BBQ shop offering a wide variety of BBQ meats including BBQ pork, roast pork and BBQ duck. I was recently invited by Chinesebites.com to try out their tantalizing eats.
Hopewell BBQ Menu
At Hopewell Chinese Kitchen, you can order whole roast piglet which is a reservation-only item that you must order one week in advance for $200. You can also dine-in as they offer meat and rice combos. Otherwise, the BBQ items are sold by weight.
What I Tried
The roast piglet had very crispy skin with tender thicker meat pieces. The cooking process involves roasted the whole piglet with seasoning in a furnace at high temperature.
The roast pork was just delicious with an lovely crispy skin and juicy, tender meat. It had a nice proportion of fat and meat.
The roast chicken also had wonderfully crispy skin and tender meat.
The roast duck was another winner in the crispy skin category though the meat was tougher.
The BBQ pork had also very tender meat and a sweeter seasoning.
