Coors Seltzer to Help Restore Over 6.5 Billion Litres of Canada’s Waters

Canada is renowned across the world for its stunning landscapes, which are naturally sculpted by its abundant water supply.  According to Canada’s Changing Climate Report, 20% of the world’s freshwater flows through Canada, originating in more than 8,500 rivers and over 2 million lakes. However, these resources come with responsibilities, and unfortunately, Canada’s climate is rising twice as quickly as the world average, wreaking havoc on the country’s water systems and supplies.

Each 12-pack of Coors Seltzer sold is helping to restore 1,000 litres of Canada’s waters through a partnership with Change the Course.

Coors Seltzer to Help Restore Over 6.5 Billion Litres of Canada's Waters

Coors Seltzer will more than double its water restoration targets in its second year on the market in Canada, vowing to support a portfolio of initiatives that will restore a total of 6.5 billion litres of water by the end of 2022:

Coors Seltzer is supporting a habitat restoration project in British Columbia to help reforest the Chilcotin River watershed, which feeds into the Fraser Valley Basin. The Hanceville Fire of 2017 destroyed over 240,000 hectares of forest, wreaking havoc on adjacent soil, riparian ecosystems, animals, and water quality. Coors Seltzer’s gift will assist the project’s partner, One Tree Planted, in reforesting the region via tree planting in the most damaged areas.

Outside of British Columbia, Coors Seltzer contributed to six ongoing initiatives in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Alberta, and Quebec in 2021 – all of which seek to assist ecosystems in maintaining or replenishing water.

In 2022, Coors Seltzer intends to sponsor a minimum of three new water restoration projects within the first six months of the year, including those that assist an Indigenous community experiencing water quality threats.

Coors Seltzer is widely available nationwide where alcohol is sold, currently available in refreshing Black Cherry, Lemon Lime, Mango, and Grapefruit flavours, with four additional flavours set to hit shelves this spring.
