Chef’s Table at Nightingale: Best Seat to Watch Kitchen Action

If you want to check out all the kitchen action at Nightingale, the Chef’s Table is the place to be. These tables for 2 are located on the second floor and directly across the open kitchen.

After attending a media event, David (pickydiners.com) and I decided to grab a bite to eat at Nightingale. We initially wanted the bar but it was full so they offered us the Chef’s Table upstairs.

The Chef’s Tables are typically reserved for walk-ins but you can request them in your reservation as well.

I loved the experience of watching the culinary team work as they rolled out the dishes. We picked the dishes for our meal based on what we saw was coming out. So, if you’re indecisive, these seats are a great way to help you pick what you want to eat!

What We Tried

David enjoyed a Nightingale martini (botanist gin, green & white tea vermouth, islay & elderflower spritz).

We went with the kale and shaved fennel salad with ricotta salata, bread crumbs and ‘green goddess’ dressing. It’s a warm dish with bright flavours and a sharp dressing.

The grilled hanger steak was outstanding. Served medium, it was a juicy, tender cut with melted gorgonzola butter, red onion agrodolce and shaved horseradish.

Check out the video on how it was prepared:

The buttermilk fried chicken with spiced maple syrup seemed like a popular dish as there seemed to be many orders. I’d love to order it next time.

Overall Impression

It was also really nice to talk to the sous-chef at Nightingale about some of the dishes on the menu. Overall, it was a fun night of seeing the Nightingale culinary team in action while getting to know the menu better by seeing a lot of the dishes being offered.
