Disclosure: I was compensated by Boston Pizza to review their new summer menu.
Fellow foodies, summer is upon us and Boston Pizza has just announced a newly expanded menu to celebrate the season. The stars of the summer menu are two burgers that are bound to delight: The MVB (Most Valuable Burger) and the Dessert Burger. To wash down these delicious summer eats, Boston Pizza has introduced refreshing Handcrafted Quenchers just in time for patio season. I recently ventured to Boston Pizza located by B.C. Place Stadium to try out the revamped menu.
The MVB
To start, the MVB is an all-star burger. It’s made with 100% Canadian beef, fresh lettuce, red onion, crispy tomato, dill pickle, real Canadian cheddar cheese and Boston Pizza’s signature cactus dip ($14.99). All placed between a soft and sweet brioche bun. You have the option of adding bacon ($1.49) which I happily obliged. I quite enjoyed the MVB’s simple and clean taste; this burger will surely satisfy your summertime burger cravings.
Summer Drinks
New to the drink menu are Boston Pizza’s new Handcrafted Quenchers ($2.99) in three summer-inspired flavors: mango and ginger; cucumber and lime; and black raspberry. These sparkling beverages are not only refreshing but are naturally flavoured with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners. They are also low-calorie drinks with 45 calories or less. I tried two varieties (black raspberry, mango & ginger) which went with the meal. Customers can get free refills on these drinks.
For those looking for an alcoholic beverage, Boston Pizza has also introduced the new Watermelon Mojito and Watermelon Sangria. I tried a glass of the Watermelon Mojito ($5.99) which has Bacardi White Rum mixed with muddled mint, watermelon syrup, lime juice and then topped with soda water. You can also order a pitcher to share with friends ($19.99).
More Tasty Summer Winners
Other tasty summer menu items include tacos (a BP All-Star), the Mediterranean Flatbread (vegetarian) and the new BP’s House Chicken Salad.
For the three Tacos($12.79), you get the choice of breaded jalapeño shrimp or grilled chicken breast. I had a mix of both for my order. The tacos come with the usual toppings of lettuce, red onions, cilantro, cheddar, tomatoes and a bit of lime. The chicken was juicy but I very much enjoyed the shrimp which had a lovely spicy kick. The crunchy tortilla strips gave the tacos some extra fun textures.
The Mediterranean Flatbread ($12.79) is a delicious vegetarian option. It has a hearty selection of toppings including the BP signature marinara sauce, mozzarella, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, marinated artichoke hearts, red onions, feta, and finished with pesto and Parmesan.
The BP’s House Chicken Salad ($14.99) is a new addition to the menu. The salad overall is citrusy and sweet with dried cranberries, julienned beets, and carrots. The toasted almonds added a fun crunch to the salad.
Dessert Burger
To finish off a fantastic summer meal is the one and only Dessert Burger ($3.00). There is whole lot of yum in this unique and sweet twist on the classic burger – vanilla ice cream, chocolate ganache sandwiched between two sweet potato buns. It’s pretty much love at first bite starting with the crunchy sweet potato buns followed by the melt-in-your mouth goodness of the vanilla ice cream and chocolate ganache combo. Totally recommend trying this.
