Bastille Day Eats: Baguette & Co

Last month, a Bastille Day festival took place at the Yaletown Roundhouse to celebrate the French national holiday.  It was a free public event where Vancouverites enjoyed an afternoon of French culture, entertainment and delicious food, of course!  There was a “Taste of France” market at the festival where a few of the popular French bakeries in town were selling pastries and viennoiseries.  Among them were Faubourg, French Make Baking and Baguette & Co.  With the sweet smell of baked goods penetrated the air, I was certainly in the mood for a delicious croissant.  The question was which vendor should I go with?

After seeing what the various bakeries had to offer, I must say that Baguette & Co had the most mouthwatering display.  Their baked goods had oh-so-mouthwatering gold brown exteriors which looked the most appealing of all the pastry vendors.  Based on my observation, they also seemed to have the most walk-up customers.

While I had been to Baguette & Co before for their cakes, I had never had their croissant.  And boy was I not disappointed.  The croissant was absolutely scrumptious!  The shell was buttery and flaky on the outside while the inside was soft and airy.  Perfection.

I’d be interested in getting another croissant from one of their four locations (Kitsilano, Marine, West End, Mount Pleasant) in the future.
