As summer fades away and the leaves turn brown, it’s that wonderful time of year to gather and give thanks under the Harvest moon. The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture and some people compare it to North American Thanksgiving. The most iconic food associated with the Mid Autum festival is mooncake. The mooncake is stuffed traditionally with red bean paste, fruit, egg yolk, nuts or lotus seed paste. Its round shape symbolizes “unity” or “reunion” and best wishes. While many people have eaten a traditional mooncake, how about experiencing a mooncake with a unique spin? 3 places in Metro Vancouver have taken mooncakes to the next level with creative fillings and Instagram-worthy presentation. Here’s a look at what Soirette, TWG Tea and Wild Sweets are offering.
This Mid-Autumn Festival, Soirette has unveiled an unique collection of Snow Mooncakes, featuring a wonderful selection of fresh fruit, refreshing teas and French couverture chocolate.
