If you’re looking for a new place to enjoy Happy Hour in Vancouver, the Water Street Cafe in Gastown just might be the place. Available Monday to Sunday 3pm – 5pm, the Happy Hour menu features 50% off all appetizers, $5 wine, $5 beer and $8 craft cocktails. I recently visited Water Street Cafe for Happy Hour. Here’s a look at the experience.
Disclosure: All food and drinks in this review were complimentary. Opinions are my own.
What I Tried
To start, I enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc ($5).
The Happy Hour appetizers I tried (50% off regular) included the Cheese Board, Beet and Arugula Salad, Antipasto Board, and West Coast Crab Cakes.
Cheese Board
The Cheese Board featured a lovely selection of cheeses (brie, aged cheddar, gorgonzola) and accompaniments (light amber honey, onion jam, cranberry compote and crostini). Priced at $7.50 for Happy Hour (regular $15).
BEET AND ARUGULA SALAD
A solid salad choice at Water St. Cafe and one that I have enjoyed previously. Salt roasted golden and red beets, pickled beet puree, baby arugula, toasted pistachio, chevre. A very nice, wintery salad which was beautiful and had fresh, crisp ingredients. Priced at $5.50 for Happy Hour (regular $11).
AntiPasto Board
The antipasto board is a real steal at $12.50 for Happy Hour (Regular $24.50). For Happy Hour, it becomes a mini buffet of deliciousness: garlic butter prawns, calamari fritti, warm mixed olives, cannellini bean hummus, marinated grilled vegetables, and crostini.
West Coast Crab Cakes
Not to be missed are the signature Water Street Cafe crab cakes. The crab cakes had a mix of Pacific Rock crab and baby shrimp. I loved the lacy, crispy exterior and tender, fine filling.
Wine Makers Dinner
Water Street Cafe has partnered with Inniskillin Winery for a Wine Makers dinner on Wednesday, April 25. 6 wines , 5 course paired menu. $68 per person. For more information, visit this post.
