The 3rd annual pizza tasting extravaganza, Pizza Palooza, presented by Vancouver Foodster took place last night. Attendees had the opportunity to taste many types of pizza including Neapolitan, Roman, Artisanal, South Indian, and Lebanese. Here’s a recap of all the pizza deliciousness of the evening.
Firecrust Neapolitan Pizzeria
At Firecrust, Neapolitan pizza bases are made with non-GMO 00 flour and the tomato base is made strictly from San Marzano tomatoes. Attendees were able to build their own 6″ pizza with unlimited toppings.

Ignite Pizzeria
Newly opened at the crossroads of Gastown and Pacific Station is an artisanal pizzeria, Ignite Pizzeria. Their pizzas are cooked in an artisanal, stone-fired oven and are made of the freshest ingredients. They create a low sodium dough that rests for more than three days, making it very light and easy to digest. For the event, attendees were able to choose 2 slices of pizzas from the selection on display.

Davie Dosa
Located in the heart of Davie Village, Davie Dosa specializes in South Indian cuisine. For the event, they offered a Half Curried Lamb Indian Pizza and a Half 1235 (bell peppers, tomato, carrot, cottage cheese & cilantro sprinkles) Indian Pizza. Both are gluten-free and came with home-made sambhar including lentil soup dip and chutneys (coconut and tomato ginger).

Manoush’eh
A new establishment in Downtown Vancouver, Manoush’eh specializes in Lebanese Flatbread. Attendees tried their Falafel Flatbread featuring falafel mix, spread and baked on house-made flatbread. It was topped with tahini sauce, tomatoes, pickled turnip and parsley. The other offering was Lahm be Ajeen featuring organic spiced ground beef with diced tomatoes and onions, spread, and baked on a crispy thin house-made flatbread.

Stretch Roman Pizza Co.
Located in the heart of Gastown, Stretch Roman Pizza serves Roman-style pizza. Starting with the use of high quality, authentic Italian flour and a lengthy 48-hour dough making process, we produce a product that is light and airy with a slight crispiness to the crust.
Attendees tried the Pancetta e Scamorza (pancetta parmigiano and smoked mozzarella) and Caprese Pizza (bocconcini cherry tomatoes and fresh basil).
