The Teahouse first opened its doors to Vancouver diners in 1978 and in the 40 years since then it has cemented its place as one of the city’s iconic dining destinations. The restaurant offers West Coast inspired cuisine in a beautiful setting located within Stanley Park and with an unparalleled view of the Burrard Inlet.
The Teahouse is excited to celebrate its 40th anniversary and four decades of hospitality history with a special three-course prix fixe menu available now until December 10. This special menu priced at $40 per person features classic dishes from the original menu.
I was invited to a media event where I was able to enjoy my own selection of dishes for the three-course menu. I was also able to photograph other dishes available on the menu.
To Start
Teahouse Stuffed Mushrooms: Crab, shrimp, cream cheese
This starter was a perfect meld of Ocean Wise seafood with melted, creamy cheese.
Duck Pâté: Cognac, pork, herbs, butter, cream, egg, lemon
Main Course
Fisherman’s Soup: Scallops, fish, shrimp, fennel, pernod broth
Steak au Poivre: 6oz New York Striploin, fresh cracked peppercorns, cognac, cream
I went with the steak for the main and it was absolutely perfect. Medium, juicy, tender and incredibly delicious. Many other attendees also raved about this entree.
Chicken Veronique: Chicken breast, grapes, white wine, brown bigarade sauce
Dessert
Crème Caramel: Vanilla custard, caramel sauce
Chocolate Mousse: Dark chocolate, candied pecan brittle
Baked Alaska: Meringue, strawberry ice cream, chocolate cake
A time-honoured classic, the baked Alaska was made with strawberry ice cream, chocolate cake, and covered in a sweet delicate meringue. The perfect finish to a delicious meal.
I really enjoyed my choices for the three-course dinner and would recommend them. Overall, the food was delicious and the menu is a great value for $40. Bring your family and friends to indulge in this menu before it ends on December 10.
