New Starbucks Pina Colada Drink [Review]

Starbucks has been rolling out quite a few creative summery drinks this year and the latest addition is the Teavana Shaken Iced Piña Colada Tea Infusion.  According to the company, this drink combines Teavana black tea, pineapple fruit and botanical blend, and coconut milk.  The Starbucks Piña Colada is designed to give you the summer feels of a tropical paradise.  And because it’s on the permanent menu, it’s like summer in a cup, all year long.

Disclosure:  This drink was complimentary.  Opinions are my own.

So how does it taste?  The Starbucks Piña Colada does not have rum, but it’s like the classic drink with the fruity and creamy texture.  The first flavours that I got were the coconut and the pineapple.  As I sipped more of the drink, the black tea flavours came through.  A grande (16 ounces) has 80 calories, 25 milligrams of caffeine, and 15 grams of sugar.

The Piña Colada Tea Infusion is the latest addition to other Teavana Tea influsion flavours which include Pineapple Black Tea, Strawberry Green Tea, and Peach Citrus White Tea (see review here).  I would have to say that the Peach Citrus White Tea is still my favourite (such that I order it regularly) but for something creamier, the Piña Colada Tea Infusion would be ideal.
