As you are making plans for Valentine’s Day, you might consider Rocky Mountain Flatbread for a casual, delicious celebration. Chef Oliver Zulauf has created a delicious three-course Valentine’s Day dinner menu priced at $30 in collaboration with Koko Monk Chocolates. Each course is offered with a vegan/gluten free option and paired with a handmade local raw chocolate from Koko Monk Chocolates. The menu will be offered at both Main Street and Kitsilano locations of Rocky Mountain Flatbread. This past week, I attended a media preview of the Valentine’s Day menu. Here’s a look at what you can expect.
Disclosure: I was invited to a media event where all food and drinks were complimentary. Opinions are my own.
Koko Monk is known for its one of a kind, complex and sophisticated flavor fusions using raw chocolate. The company uses organic and health-based ingredients without damaging and reducing their essence as one of the most important signifiers of their identity. For this collaborative menu, Koko Monk is featuring their Bliss Fix (passionfruit raw chocolate), Diablo Del Amar (a mango tequila raw chocolate with chili), and Flirt (a salted caramel raw chocolate with almond, cashew and organic red rose petals).
Did you know?
The authentic, raw version of chocolate is nothing to do with its candy version counterparts which are well known for the artery-clogging and fat generating effects on our bodies. In fact, raw chocolate has any number of health benefits.
Begin with a Bliss Fix (passionfruit raw chocolate) and choice of salad (fig & goat cheese, basil & blackberry, or fresh herb salad), melt in your mouth BC mushroom caps, or house made soup.
Romance your taste buds with Diablo Del Amar (a mango tequila raw chocolate with chili) and enjoy any handcrafted Traditional Flatbread pizza or featured organic pasta with local seasonal veggies. Vegan and gluten free options are available.
Flirt (a salted caramel raw chocolate with almond, cashew and organic red rose petals) with dessert and enjoy a signature Rocky Mountain Flatbread warm double chocolate brownie, apple cinnamon crumble (vegan) or baked cheesecake with gluten free toasted coconut crust.
Valentine’s Day with Kids:
Rocky’s Valentine’s Day Kids Menu is kid-approved and comes paired with chocolate too! This three-course menu is offered for $12.95 per child plus tax and gratuity.
Starter: Drink or Veggie Monster Bowl paired with a Hershey’s Kiss
Mains: Mozza Pizza or Pasta paired with a Hershey’s Kiss
Desserts: Warm Double Chocolate Brownie with House Made Ice Cream or One Scoop of Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream paired with a Hershey’s Kiss
My ideal three-course dinner would the Fig & Goat Cheese salad, All Canadian Pizza and Apple Cinnamon Crumble.
