No visit to the Okanagan would be complete without a visit to one of the top winery’s in West Kelowna, Quail’s Gate Winery. Owned and operated by the Stewart Family, three generations have helped to build Quails’ Gate into the award-winning winery that it is today. At Quail’s Gate, guests can enjoy wine tastings, tours of the grounds, or dine at Old Vines Restaurant. In this throwback post (circa 2016) , here’s a look at what you can expect from visiting Quail’s Gate.
Overlooking Lake Okanagan
The grounds are truly spectacular as the winery covers a total of 180 acres (72 hectares) of land overlooking Lake Okanagan. I enjoyed the picturesque setting as I made my way through the rows of vines.
Quail’s Gate Winery is known for its prized Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.
Old Vine’s Restaurant
Old Vines Restaurant is the on-site restaurant at Quail’s Gate featuring farm-to-table cuisine and sweeping views of the valley. It is rated as one of the top 100 restaurants in Canada.
The restaurant has both indoor and patio seating and a few lounge areas as well.
My family and I sat on the patio for brunch during our visit where we enjoyed Eggs Benedict, Farm Crest Chicken and Pasta & Meatballs (for the little one). I also enjoyed a glass of rose during the meal.
The Eggs Benny featured free-run eggs, Kassler ham, house-made English muffin, and hollandaise.
The Farm Crest Chicken was served with herb gnocchi, chorizo, and chanterelle mushrooms.
My little guy had the Pasta & Meatballs and the meatballs were very tender and flavourful.
Overall Impression
My family and I had a lovely time touring the grounds on our own and dining at Old Vine’s Restaurant. I would definitely love to return to do a bit more wine tasting and to enjoy the food again at Old Vine’s.
