Otreat is a new brunch destination in Metro Vancouver which opened earlier this year. Here’s a look at my experience there.
Menu
On the menu are bennies served on a bagel; pastas served in a cube bread bowl; sandwiches, burgers and more along with some Korean-inspired fare. Some highlights of the menu include the Salmon Steak Benny; Vegan Bibim Bowl; Pork Banh-Mi Sandwich; Caprese Open Toast; Italian Pasta Salad and so forth.
They also have a display case of sweet and savoury pastries including danishes, croissants with fillings, and more. These are available for dine-in or for a grab-and-go.
Ambiance
The restaurant has a modern and an inviting space which makes for a comfortable spot to enjoy their offerings. They have both indoor and outdoor seating.
What We Tried
On my recent visit to Otreat in Langley, I had the pleasure of trying several menu items, and each dish offered a unique and flavorful experience.
Pesto Prawn Pasta
For anyone who likes a good pasta dish, I recommend The Pesto Prawn Pasta. The linguini was cooked to perfection, providing just the right amount of bite. The Tiger Prawns were bouncy and blended beautifully with the rich basil pesto oil sauce. The addition of parmesan added a savoury note that elevated the dish.
Salmon Poke Bowl
The Salmon Poke Bowl is good option for those looking for a lighter, yet satisfying dish. The dill and citrus marinated raw salmon had a delicate, fresh flavour that paired well with the sushi rice that had the right amount of vinegar taste. The avocado added a creamy texture, while the roasted chickpeas brought a nice crunch. The greens, onion, and cucumber added a crispness to the bowl, and the miso dressing tied everything together with its savory, umami richness.
Lemony Ice Blue
The Lemony Ice Blue is the type of drink that is reminiscent of the type of beverage you would be enjoying at the pool on a sunny holiday. The combination of sparkling water, lemon juice, and Curacao syrup created a drink that was both tangy and sweet, with a hint of bitterness from the Curacao.
London Fog Latte & London Fog Crème Croissant
The London Fog Latte was the perfect blend of Earl Grey tea, steamed milk, and vanilla, offering a comforting and aromatic experience. Paired with the London Fog Crème Croissant, it was a match made in heaven. The croissant was flaky and buttery, filled with a smooth and creamy London Fog custard that echoed the flavors of the latte. Together, they made for a delightful pairing.
Biscoff Crème Croissant
The Biscoff Crème Croissant is a new addition to the menu. The croissant was as flaky and buttery as expected, with a filling that tasted exactly like the beloved Biscoff cookies. The rich, caramel-like flavor of the Biscoff crème complemented the pastry perfectly, making it a decadent choice for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Danishes
The Blueberry and Strawberry danishes were perfectly buttery and flaky with a fruit and custard topping.
Mocha
The Mocha was delicious and had nice latte art on top!
