Halloween Treats, Cocktails and Special Menus in Metro Vancouver 2020

Here’s a look at some spooktacular treats, cocktails and special menus offered by restaurants, bakeries and bars this Halloween in Metro Vancouver.

Rocky Mtn. Chocolate (various locations)

Rocky Mtn Chocolate’s Halloween lineup features a variety of novelty chocolates, sticky caramel apples, Halloween-themed milk chocolate balls and bars.

This year’s offerings include an oversized 9 oz. #NOBRAINER hollow chocolate pumpkin filled with spooky sweets like candied eyes, gummy worms, sprinkles and milk chocolate candies.  Available now online and in store.

Temper Chocolate and Pastry (West Vancouver)

This year’s signature Halloween lineup by Temper Chocolate and Pastry features a variety of milk and dark chocolate lollipops, bite-sized chocolate frictures in assorted spooky shapes, and oversized hollow chocolate pumpkins filled with delicious sweets.

  • ‘The Great Pumpkin’: large hollow dark chocolate pumpkin filled with miniature chocolates, chocolate lollipops and caramels ($60)
  • Chocolate Pumpkin: small hollow chocolate pumpkin (available in milk or dark chocolate) filled with miniature chocolates ($35)
  • Halloween Frictures: assorted bag of bite-sized chocolates in frightening ghost, tombstone and skull shapes ($9)
  • Chocolate Lollipops: solid milk or dark chocolate lollipops ($4)

 Temper’s signature Halloween treats will be available exclusively for purchase in-store at the Dundrave neighbourhood patisserie from now until October 31, or while quantities last.

Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts – Blue Hat Bakery-Cafe (Vancouver)

Special Halloween treats will be available at the PICA bakery-cafe starting Wednesday, October 23rd until Saturday, October 31st. Pick up treats like the following: 

  • Casper the Friendly Ghost Lemon Meringue Tarts – $7
  • Spider’s Web – Chocolate Pumpkin Mouse Cake – $7

Mon Paris Patisserie (Burnaby)

Mon Paris Patisserie is offering Milk Chocolate Jack O Lantern and Pumpkin Lollies.

Thomas Haas (Vancouver, North Vancouver)

Thomas Haas’ fall collection includes Chocolate Jack-O’Lanterns, Scarecrows and more.

Chez Christophe (Burnaby, White Rock)

Chez Christophe is offering Ghost Lollipops; Chocolate Skull Lollipops; and more.

Special Menus

Kinton Ramen (UBC)

Kinton Ramen at UBC has a special October feature: Burnt Kogashi Shoyu-Men ($14.95). The ramen has a unique spooky color and flavor that is perfect for Halloween. Available only until October 31st, the ramen features thick noodles in a char-seasoned pork shoyu broth topped with pork belly, seasoned egg, beansprouts, garlic oil, sesame seeds, garlic chips, nori and scallions.

Ophelia (Vancouver)

On October 31, Ophelia is hosting a special five-course menu ($75) to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

The restaurant will be transformed into a mystical space with flickering candles, vibrant decorations and a ghostly smoke machine.

Staff will create an enchanting (socially distant) ambiance for diners by painting their faces with traditional calavera(skull) makeup while listening to a soundtrack of Mexican folk music.

Reservations are available for Ophelia’s Día de los Muertos dinner on Saturday, October 31 starting at 7:30 p.m. Bookings must be made via phone at 604-800-5253 and secured with a credit card, with full payment taken at the table.  Note, the restaurant will be exclusively serving the Día de los Muertos dinner menu in the evening on October 31. 


Straight and Marrow (Vancouver)

Enjoy a special cocktail Halloween weekend (Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1) at Straight and Marrow.

The drink is called “BRAINS!” and is made with a 3 Rum blend; pineapple juice; grapefruit juice; lime juice; Autumn Falernum; Blood Orange Grenadine; Absimthe; and Pomegranate brain garnish.

UVA (Vancouver)

UVA is offering three special cocktails from Oct 24 – Oct 31: The Bad Apple – $15 (Ketel One, Green Chartruese, lime juice, lemon juice, apple juice); Peaches Brew – $16 (Makers Mark, lemon juice, Peach Black Tea Syrup, Amaro Lucano, ango and Clingstone peach bitters); and Jack in the Box – $15 (Jack Rye, Fernet Branca, lime juice, Falernum, egg white).
