With 8 locations in BC, Cupcakes by Heather and Lori are known for their sweet cupcake offerings. But now, they have expanded their product line to include the perfect compliment to cupcakes: ice cream! Their new premium ice cream line is called Betterwith Ice Cream because cupcakes are indeed better with ice cream.
So far, Betterwith Ice Cream is being offered in six flavours: cream, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, coffee, and strawberry. Betterwith is also supposed to be smoother and richer than other competitor ice creams due to low overrun (air) and high butterfat content.
Customers can enjoy a mini scoop ($2.75) up to 3 scoops ($5.50). Also available are sundaes, cake shakes, and cookies.
What I Tried
Last month, Cupcakes announced over social media that they were offering free Betterwith Ice Cream at the flagship Thurlow and Robson Cupcakes location only. People needed to post about it on social media in exchange for the free ice cream. I tried the strawberry and vanilla and I thought it was just okay. I didn’t find it better than other artisan ice cream locally like Earnest and Rain or Shine in terms of flavour and texture.
Overall Impression of Betterwith Ice Cream
I thought that Betterwith Ice Cream was good but didn’t entice me to become a regular customer. Rating: 3/5
