Azure Play Cafe is a family-friendly dessert cafe that opened about five months ago at Garden City Shopping Centre in Richmond. I was invited for a media tasting. Here’s a look at my experience.
Azure Play Cafe Interior
The bright, spacious and modern interior makes it inviting for couples and groups to get together for desserts or for individuals to get work done over a sweet treat.
Play Space for Kids
Azure Play Cafe caters towards families and offers a dedicated play area for children to entertain themselves. The cafe also hosts S.T.E.M. and cooking workshops for kids.
Azure Play Cafe Menu
The cafe offers an extensive selection of Asian-style drinks and desserts. These include waffles, jiggly pancakes, sweet soups, shaved iced, fresh fruit salads, and a dedicated kid’s menu. One of their specialties is a Super Vitamin C Fruit drink.
Fluffy, Souffle Pancakes
Fluffy, souffle pancakes are certainly a popular food trend right now in Metro Vancouver. You can now add Azure Play Cafe as another go-to place for them.
They offer four varieties priced at $12.95 each: Matcha & Strawberry; Mango & Sago; Berries & Mascarpone; and Earl Grey & Almond.
Earl Grey & Almond
I really enjoyed the smooth, Earl Grey cream with the warm, toasted almonds on top of the jiggly stack of souffle pancakes.
Berries & Mascarpone
This one had a buttery and smooth mascarpone cream and mixed berries.
The pancakes were light and fluffy and did not get too soggy. Both were satisfying but not overindulging so you can enjoy them until the last bite.
Mango & Sago Drink
If you love mango anything, try their Mango & Sago shaved ice drink (one of the most popular items on the menu).
Overall Impression of Azure Play Cafe
I definitely enjoyed the relaxed and inviting environment at Azure Play Cafe. Both my sons took advantage of the play space while we were there. I thought the desserts and drinks were well-made and fresh.
