Acquafarina is a MICHELIN recommended, fine-dining Italian restaurant in Downtown Vancouver with Old World elegance and modern flair.
The upscale sibling restaurant to Per Se Social Corner, its classy dining room features soaring ceilings, exquisite handcrafted woodwork, and a showpiece wine cellar.
We visited them for dinner at the time when it was truffle season and tried the following:
Focaccia, olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Complimentary bread served at the start
Polpo alla griglia
Grilled octopus, smoked tomato marmalade, nori cracker. The octopus was perfectly tender and the tomato marmalade was a perfect sauce.
Caserecce Di Vitello
Braised veal cheek, wild mushrooms, fresh truffle. A delicious, al dente pasta with truffle flavour.
Risotto Al Funghi
Risotto, black truffle, seasonal foraged mushrooms. The risotto was undercooked and had a starchy middle. We told the staff who took it back to the kitchen to be cooked more. However, it was still a bit undercooked. Our server insisted it was al dente but the starchy middle was telling that it was not cooked through. We still paid for it and they did not offer to take it off the bill.
Braciola Di Cinghiale
Wild Boar, crispy risotto ‘al salto,’ pistacchio, smoked beets, apple balsamic glaze. I enjoyed the pistacchio crust and the sweet apple glaze.
Whey Marinated Veal Striploin & Shaved Alba Truffle
served with a wild mushroom bread pudding
Millefoglie Ubriaca
Layered puffed pastry with Cognac crème
The ambiance was great and certainly more upscale for Vancouver standards. The food was pretty good, well-presented although the risotto was a miss as it was undercooked. We visited when they had a special truffle menu so that made the experience a bit more special.
acquafarina is located at 425 W Georgia St, Vancouver, BC.
