2nd Annual Avoshowdown Recap

Last Sunday, the second annual Avoshowdown, hosted by Avocados from Mexico, was held at the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver.  The competition had 16 entrants creating an avocado dish for competition. The dishes were then blind-tasted and judged by five prominent food and lifestyle experts.

While the official judging process was taking place, I was able to taste the entrant’s dishes.  I was in awe of the creativity and culinary skills of the participants.  Here are just some of the mouthwatering participating avocado dishes:

The winner of Avoshodown was Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver graduate Caitlin Connolly with her Cannoli Santo, an avocado-based dessert.  Prior to Connolly’s culinary program at NWCAV, she was an elementary school teacher in California with a passion for food and cooking.  Caitlin received the amazing prize of a roundtrip travel to a Mexican all-inclusive resort courtesy of Club Med Canada.  I personally thought this was the best dish too!
