According to Pinterest predictions for top 2023 trends, cocktail creations and presentations will be all the rage this coming year including an increase in searches for fancy ice cubes (by +75 per cent).
In light of this upward trend, below are some refreshing wine-based cocktails that are better enjoyed on the rocks.
Rockin’ Red Superfruit Sangria
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of Jackson-Triggs Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz
- 1/2 bottle of Ruffino Prosecco
- 1 can of Growers Extra Dry
- 1 cup of orange juice
- 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice
- 1/2 cup of blueberries
- 1/2 cup of black berries
- 1/2 cup of strawberries
- 1/2 cup of raspberries
- 1 orange cut into wheels
- 1 lime cut into wheels
- 1 lemon cut into wheels
- 12 ice cubes
Preparation
- In a large pitcher, stir together the red wine, sparkling wine, and cider.
- Add the orange juice and grapefruit juice and stir until completely dissolved.
- Fold in remaining fruit ingredients until evenly dispersed.
- Store the pitcher in the fridge until ready to be served. A
- dd 12 ice cubes just before serving.
Perfect Pear-Inn
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Inniskillin Riesling Icewine
- 4 pieces fresh ginger
- 1½ oz. pear nectar (muddled fresh pears or pre-made peach juice; or apple cider as well)
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Dust with nutmeg
Preparation
- In the mixing glass muddle ginger, add remaining
- ingredients, add ice, shake, strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass and garnish.
Inniskillin New York Sour
Ingredients
- 2 oz rye whiskey or bourbon
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 3/4 oz simple syrup
- 1/2 oz Inniskillin CS Pinot Noir VQA
- 1 egg white (optional)
Preparation
- Add the whiskey, lemon juice and simple syrup into a shaker with ice.
- Shake until well-chilled (15 – 20 seconds), then strain into a rocks glass over ice.
- Gently pour red wine over the back of a spoon so the wine floats on the top.
