Recently, fellow food blogger, Davie of Picky Diner, and I wanted decide to meet up for coffee. The big question was, of course, where? We researched a few potential places but in the end I suggested Trees Organic Coffee on Richards and Pacific. First of all, it was close to my home and the place where he had planned to go after. Furthermore, I had noticed from walking past the shop countless times that it was a laid back place where you could enjoy a conversation without much background noise. Last but not least, they have *amazing* cheesecake which I had tried previously. I was eager to indulge in another slice.
Richards Location
The Trees Organic Coffee Richards location seems a lot more relaxed and less busy than the Granville one. Seating was plentiful with cozy banquettes and fabric chairs. On a sunny day, you can certainly enjoy sitting outside at one of their outdoor tables. I enjoyed how the noise level was low. This Richards location is a perfect place to hide away one afternoon to get work done on your laptop or read your favourite novel.
Trees Organic Coffee Menu
Trees Organic serves 100% organic and fair trade coffee and the beans are roasted at their Granville location. They are best known for being a top spot for cheesecake in Vancouver! The cheesecakes cost $7 per slice for regular flavours and $7.50 for premium. You can also order whole cheesecakes in 6″, 8″ and 10″ sizes.
What We Tried
I had a regular latte while David had an ice coffee. We shared their April cheesecake of the month, the Oreo cheesecake. I had seen Instagram photos of their Oreo cheesecake and put it on my must-try list since. Furthermore, I applied an Entertainment coupon to my order for 50% off (up to $5).
The Oreo cheesecake is made with ground Oreo chocolate wafers and vanilla frosting, with Tree Organic’s popular cheesecake filling. Additional cookie bits are incorporated into the cheesecake for some extra Oreo goodness. The base is a chocolate crumbly crust and topped with one Oreo on each slice.
This Oreo cheesecake was just amazing (like all the other Trees Organic cheesecakes I tried). The texture was just perfect being rich and luscious. The chocolate crumb base was absolutely scrumptious. It was also interesting that the Oreo on top was soft and not super hard like one you would get from an Oreo box. As a result, they maintained a soft consistency throughout the dessert.
Overall Impression of Trees Organic Coffee
I continue to be a fan of Trees Organic’s cheesecake. The vibe at the Richards location is very relaxing which makes it a great place to get work done, reconnect with an old friend, to have a casual date or cozy up on rainy afternoon. Rating: 4.5/5
