One of my interesting finds from last month’s Grocery and Speciality Food West Show was the Tasty Bite Vegetable Curry. I love curry and would love to have it more conveniently. However, pre-packed curries that I have tried in the past just haven’t been that great.
It wasn’t until a sample of the Tasty Bite Vegetable Curry that I began to have a renewed interested in packaged curries. The curry tasted pretty legit and was definitely spicy. I was interested in getting the full meal experience and the vendor gave me a full package to try.
The curry is described to be made with natural ingredients. It is also vegetarian, gluten-free, kosher and has no preservatives. It features potatoes and vegetables in a spicy curry sauce with signature Thai flavors such as lemongrass, lime and garlic.
Half of the pack contains 140 calories, 9 g of fat, 450 mg of sodium and 12 g of carbs.
The curry is extremely easy to prepare as you can microwave for 60 seconds or heat it up via stovetop for about 5 minutes.
I liked the chunks of vegetables and potatoes to give the vcurry some heartiness. However, the spiciness was through the roof for me! If you look at the front of the package, there’s a spiciness indicator and for this curry it is maxed out. It was honestly one of the spiciest Thai curries I have ever had (at home or at a restaurant). Unfortunately, I could only handle a few bites before I threw in the towel. It simply wasn’t something I could finish.
I personally could not handle the extreme spiciness of this curry package but everyone’s tolerances to spiciness is different. Some like it really hot and this might just be right. The quality of vegetables seemed reasonable. I can’t really comment on the flavour that much as the spiciness was hard to handle. But then again, the company did say that it was spiciness to the max.
