It had been a few months since I attended the Taste of the Holidays event at Whole Foods on Cambie. A small donation of $10 to the charity being supported by the event allowed you to sample various foods. You receive a passport and receive the samples at various stations. I got excited when I saw on their Facebook page that they were having a Taste of Spring event. This time, proceeds benefited the Whole Planet Foundation.
Give Me a Taste of Spring
From the prepared foods section, we got to try sweet potato tzimmez, asparagus with julienne vegetables, and beef brisket with roasted carrots and shallots.
Whole Foods staff were waiting to serve passport holders with the prepared foods. The foods were good and in line with what you expect from their hot food bar.
I loved these allergan-free FreeYumm chocolate brownie bites and chocolate ganache mini cakes. They are made with organic, fair trade chocolate and non-GMO agave syrup.
Cheese samples are a must at any tasting event!
These pumpkin crackers from Saman Bakery had a fun and interesting texture. They are dairy, sugar, cholesterol, preservative free and high fibre.
Did you know that hot cross buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday? That would make sense why it was feature at the Taste of Spring event.
There were also samples of Terra Breads Granola in the original and apple pistachio varieties. I loved their wonderful flavour and how soft and chewy there are.
We also got to try samples from Tree Island Gourmet Yogurt. They use whole milk from grass-fed cows on Vancouver Island. My favorite is the coconut lime.
Cookies, Cookies, Cookies
I thought that these spring-inspired handmade cookies from Kreation were very cute.
There were even warm and freshly baked cardamom soft chocolate chip cookies with coconut flour.
The tasting events are Whole Foods helps me as a customer to sample products that I normally would not consider. Be sure to follow Whole Foods Market to hear about their upcoming instore events.
