Congratulations Takenaka on the launch of your food truck!
Takenaka which just launched several months ago by Chef-Owner Shogo Takenaka has been operating as a virtual restaurant from Coho Commissary and now they are bringing their fresh, delicious Japanese eats to the streets.
Takenaka Food Truck Menu
On the food truck menu are elevated sushi rolls (like Wagyu foie gras aburi nigiri, yuzu tuna and more); temaki rolls (like uni, lobster and so forth); chirashi sushi bowls; udon noodles; appetizers (like yuzu tuna tataki and snow crab on the egg); street-style eats (like ebimayo, chicken karaage and more); and desserts (like almond tofu with peach & orange jelly).
What I Tried
I enjoyed a tasting of their menu all of which I recommend:
Lobster Temaki
Lobster, crab meat, tobiko
Uni Temaki
Uni, snow crab, ikura, yuzu tobiko and shiso leaf
Bara Chirashi
Sashimi cubes, snow crab, scallop, salmon roe, sweet egg omelet, radish sprouts, shiso marinated kelp, tobiko
Wagyu Shabu Shabu Udon
Thin sliced beef, radish sprouts, seasoned boiled egg, yuzu zest, Sanuki udon noodle with original udon broth. I enjoyed the rich flavour, umami broth.
Chicken Karaage
Marinated crispy chicken. Juicy, crispy and delicious!
Ebimayo
Batter-fried tiger prawns with rich and creamy Japanese chilli mayo. I would love to order this again.
Takenaka’s offerings are fresh, tasty, and affordable. I also appreciate that they have elevated options.
