For the first time in years, Starbucks made two new permanent additions to their Frappuccino lineup. Meet the Starbucks Triple Mocha Frappuccino which joins menu along with the Starbucks Ultra Caramel Frappuccino. According to the company, the Starbucks Triple Mocha Frappuccino has layers of whipped cream that’s infused with cold brew, white chocolate mocha and dark caramel. On each layer of whipped cream is a dollop of rich dark mocha sauce. Sounds like a mocha lover’s dream!

I like the layered look of the drink with contrasting coffee-coloured and milky white layers. The dark brown colour of the mocha sauce running through the different layers is a nice accent.
If you’ve tried the Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino before, you’ll notice the flavour to be very similar – just more mocha-y. At first sip, I got a dose of mocha sauce (very rich!) but it all started to taste better after I blended the layers more with my straw. It’s very drinkable but still more like a dessert beverage.
The whipped cream infused with cold brew was probably the most interesting part of the drink. It’s pretty much like whipped cream 2.0 – that is, at an elevated level.
A Grande Starbucks Triple Mocha Frappuccino has 400 calories, 18 grams of fat, 55 grams of carbs, and 90 mg of caffeine. If you want to cut down on the calories, you can always order a “skinny” – that is, without whipped cream and with nonfat milk.
A Tall is $4.95; Grande is $5.45; and Venti is $5.85. Prices are CAD and based on Starbucks locations in Vancouver, BC.
I thought that the Starbucks Triple Mocha Frappuccino was pretty good and satisfied the mocha lover in me. Frappuccinos, in general, are not an everyday type of drink for me, but this Triple Mocha could be a nice once-in-a-while beverage. Rating: 4/5
