Port Moody Rocky Point Park: Pajo’s Fish and Chips

Pajo’s Fish and Chips is a longstanding BC restaurant chain serving customers since 1985.  They have four locations in the Lower Mainland: 2 in Steveston, 1 in Port Moody and 1 in Coquitlam.  What is great about them is that they are 100% Oceanwise which means all the seafood they serve is sustainable.  And those delectable fries to go with your deep fried fish?  Well, they’re locally sourced too as they are grown in Delta.  This past summer, my family and I were in Port Moody and we enjoyed lunch at Pajo’s in Rocky Point Park.

Rocky Point Park

Rocky Point Park, also known as Rocky Point, is situated along Burrard Inlet.

There is also a really neat waterpark where kids (and adults) can splash.

Line-ups are certainly common at Pajo’s when the weather is nice outside.  Great place to grab some food for an outdoor picnic.

Pajo’s Fish and Chips Menu

On the menu are burgers (Everything, Inlet BBQ, Maui, Classic Hamburger, and more), fish and chips (wild cod, wild salmon, wild halibut) and seafood starters (poutine, chowder, onion rings and more).  They also have a special kids menu with grilled cheese, hot dog, cod and chips, and a plain burger.  Customers can enjoy bottomless chips with burger orders and bottomless soft drinks.  Their menu is full available online.

What We Tried

We had 3 piece cod and chips ($16.00), Pajo’s seafood chowder ($7.00), and a homemade lemonade ($2.50).  Let’s start with the fish and chips.  The battered coating was golden in appearance, was deliciously crunchy and not too greasy.  The cod was wonderfully moist on the inside.  The fries were well-executed, not burnt and very crispy.  The fish and chips were served in a take-out paper cone.

The chowder comes in one size only: 10 ounces.  It was thick, creamy, flavourful and had a decent number of “bits” in it.  Not just liquid but actual substance!

The homemade lemonade was surprisingly good.  A perfect combination of sweet and tart.  I totally recommend this to go with your meal.

Overall Impression of Pajo’s Fish and Chips

I thought that the food we tried was solid overall.  Aside from the line-up, it was a no-frills experience that I would revisit again next summer.  Rating: 4/5
