The PNE is on right now and what would it be without some over-the-top and indulgent PNE food? These eats are not for the faint of heart and those who are on a diet for all that matter. Brace yourselves as I take you on mouthwatering, eye-popping, high blood-pressure inducing review of crazy food items to try at this year’s PNE.

Deep Fried Pickle Corn Dog
For some multi-layered fun, you gotta try Chicky’s Chicken’s Deep Fried Pickle Corn Dog. It’s made of a cored out pickle with a hot dog inserted, which is then battered and deep fried. Eat with ketchup and/or mustard as a savoury treat. Oh, and that cornmeal breading is absolutely delicious.
Mac and Cheese Stuffed Burger
Two classic Fair food items are burgers and Mac & Cheese, so why not pair them both in one ultimate, crazy eat? Handmade Burgers created the Mac and Cheese Stuffed Burger which uses locally sourced meat and a fresh baked brioche bun. The two worlds of burger and Mac & Cheese collide into one this magnificent creation.
Slumdog Millionaire Mac & Cheese
In the Slumdog Millionaire Mac & Cheese, Mac & Cheese meets Bollywood. It’s a comforting delight with curry, peas and crispy onions.
Chicken Teriyaki Perogies
Dubbed at this year’s breakout hit, International Perogies puts an Asian twist on traditional perogies with Chicken Teriyaki Perogies.
Deep Fried Tequila/Oreo Churros
Deep fried goodies are aplenty at the PNE but one concessionaire takes it to the next level. Steve O’s serves Deep Fried Tequila Shot Bites which are fried tequila flavoured cake bites topped off with icing sugar. The tequila flavour is subtle compared to the sugar but the cake bites are wonderfully light and fluffy. Another exciting item is the Oreo Churros.
Deep Fried Coffee
PNE newcomer Ogopogo Concessions is one concessionaire to visit if you have a sweet tooth. They offer deep fried coffee treats with indulgent toppings like mocha chip, salted caramel, espresso flake, French Vanilla and more.
Hercules Burger
As they say, go big or go home. The Hercules Burger created by Gourmet Burgers is definitely not a one-hander. In fact, it weighs a whopping 10 pounds and can feed 15-20 people. When I tried the burger, it was surprisingly moist! So great yer family, friends or pretty much everyone you know, and come and try this monstrosity.
Perogies
If there’s one iconic PNE Fair Food, that would be Hunky Bill’s Ukrainian-style Perogies. Hunky Bill’s has held over a 50 year tenure at the PNE fair and served multi-generations. His perogies are sold year round in Canada.
Craft Beer Festival
And if you’re wanting to take a break from all those crazy eats, head down to the Craft beer Festival. There are 25 featured craft breweries from around the Lower Mainland.
