Join Mealshare & Eight Celebrities to Fight Hunger!

If you dine out regularly in Vancouver like I do, you may have seen or even bought a Mealshare branded menu item.  For every Mealshare item sold, a meal is provided to someone in need.  How it works is that restaurants give funding to Mealshare to purchase ingredients required to make a meal at a partner charity.  It’s that simple!  Buy one, give one.  There’s no added cost to the customer.  Meals are donated locally through the KidSafe, Breakfast Club of Canada, and internationally, through Save the Children.  Mealshare was started in 2013, is based out of Vancouver, and run by a team of young entrepreneurs. They now have 250 restaurant partners across Canada in 5 major cities.

In late November, Mealshare will share their 500,000th meal with someone in need!  This marks the halfway point on their “Road to 1 Million” campaign, which follows their path to providing one million meals to hungry people by adding their logo to partner restaurants’ menus!  Eight Canadian celebrities are supporting the campaign to fight hunger and help spread awareness about food insecurity and Mealshare. The general public can visit Mealshare’s interactive pop-up website, join a celebrity team, and provide a meal to someone in need just by clicking a button to send out a pre-composed tweet!

The celebrities are:
• Hayley Wickenheiser (Olympian)
• Mayor Gregor Robertson
• John Catucci (You Gotta Eat Here)
• Arlene Dickinson (Dragon’s Den)
• Gail Simmon (Top Chef Judge)
• Brett Wilson (Dragon’s Den)
• Mayor Don Iveson (Edmonton)
• Andrew Ference (Edmonton Oilers)

We’re so excited to have so many amazing celebrities and new restaurant partners supporting Mealshare! What’s great about our Road to One Million campaign, is that the public can help out and provide a meal to someone in need. All they have to do is go to our site and click a button. It’s that easy!”
