Located at the Panorama Village in South Surrey, Flaming Ice is a family restaurant and sports bar that specializes in flame grill chicken with house-made sauces and marinades. I was invited for a media tasting at Flaming Ice restaurant recently. Here’s a look at what you can expect on your visit.
Disclosure: All food and drinks in this review were complimentary. Opinions are my own.
Interior
The sleek interior of Flaming Ice restaurant has both a retro and modern feel. It’s a bright space with wood fixtures and tall ceilings. There is a mix of dining tables, booths and bar seating. There are several LCD screens on the wall for guests to watch a game while indulging in some comfort food.
Flaming Ice Menu
Flaming Ice offers a variety of bar favourites with a few unique options as well some items with Indian influences. For starters, you can find the usual nachos, chicken strips and wings but also chicken or beef samosas. Their handheld options range from the usual beef, chicken or salmon burgers to some exotic ones like crocodile and kangaroo. They are best known for their flame grill items like chicken (legs and thighs) and kebabs. The housemade sauces include Flaming Hot Peri, Flaming Peri, Smokey BBQ, Tandoori and so forth.
It’s a family-friendly restaurant and the kid’s menu features grilled cheese, burger, wings and chicken strips. There are also some off-the-menu items like curry which customers can call in to see what is available on the day of.
As for drinks, they have beer on tap as well as wine and ciders.
What I Tried
At the media tasting, my guest and I tried a few chicken-focused dishes including the Quarter Chicken, Chicken Thighs & Legs with Honey Garlic and Tandoori sauces, and the Chicken Kebab. In general, I thought the meat was nicely grilled and charred on the outside while still being moist and juicy on the inside.
Quarter Chicken
We asked for a medium spiciness for the roast chicken and it definitely had a kick to it. Loaded with flavours and very delicious.
Chicken Kebab
The chicken kebab was my favourite dish as I love the light, flaky texture of the inside. The rice was also aromatic and was flavourful due to being infused with spices and herbs.
Chicken Legs & Thighs
The sauces were on point with flavour.
Boxing Machine
If you want to get a discount off your meal, you can try your hand (literally) at the boxing machine. You can hit certain numbers for credit towards your bill.
Overall Impression of Flaming Ice
I like Flaming Ice’s approachable menu that caters to the sports bar crowd but also those who might have more exotic tastes. I thought everything was on point in terms of taste, portions and price. Rating: 4/5
