Where to Donate Baby and Kids’ Clothes and Toys Vancouver

As I had been doing more cleaning around the home these last few months during the pandemic, I had uncovered a lot of my kids’ clothes and toys which weren’t of use anymore.

Finding a place to donate baby and childrens’ clothing and toys was a bit tricky even pre-pandemic. Through my attemps to donate to certain thrift shops (like the Wildlife Thrift Store), I had learned that they needed a special license to take in kids’ items.

Most recently I had confirmed and successfully unloaded baby and kids’ clothes at the Salvation Army. They take in lightly used children’s clothing and toys.

I drove up to the Donor drop off located behind the Salvation Army to unload the items. It was a very easy process.

Another organization that was accepting childrens’ clothing and toys pre-pandemic was Big Brothers Vancouver. Their pickup service is currently suspended due to the pandemic but stay tuned to see if they will resume.

Why I like to Donate to the Salvation Army

I personally find that donating to the Salvation Army is the easiest. Here are a few reasons why:

  • The Thrift Store locations and hours are convenient to me. The ones near me closed at 8 pm.
  • I didn’t really have to go through a list of what they accepted or didn’t accept. Some organizations are very particular about what donations they would take in.
  • I could drop off the donation myself instead of booking a pickup service. In the past, I tried to book a pickup service (like via Big Brothers) but it didn’t work out for me because they required me to leave the donation items in front of where I lived and they would pick it up at their convenience during business hours. The problem is that I live in a Downtown building and the bag would likely be taken.

Feel free to contact the Salvation Army if you have any items that you want to donate but aren’t sure if they would accept. I emailed them and they were very responsive.
