Last year, A&W Canada partnered with Nanak Foods, a Canadian-owned South Asian dairy based in Surrey, BC, to introduce the Masala Veggie Burger at select locations. Since its limited debut in November 2023, the burger has received positive feedback for its authentic South Asian flavours and 100% vegetarian ingredients. Now, A&W is rolling it out to more locations in BC and Ontario to meet growing demand for a quality vegetarian option in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) space.
The patty is made from a mix of red and yellow peppers, spinach, leeks, potatoes, carrots, chickpeas, jalapeños, and paneer from Nanak Foods. It’s topped with a spiced, egg-free Masala Veggie aioli, made in Ontario. The burger is entirely vegetarian and developed to reflect the tastes of a broad range of Canadian diners, with an emphasis on flavour and texture.
This new offering responds to a growing demand for vegetarian options in the quick-service space and is currently available across select A&W locations in Metro Vancouver.
