Attending Web Summit Vancouver, Reflections from a Blogger

Web Summit Vancouver is a major global technology conference that brings together founders, investors, researchers, media, and industry leaders to discuss where innovation is heading and how it intersects with society.

Part of the international Web Summit series, the Vancouver edition places a strong focus on emerging tech, startups, and ideas shaping the future of business, health care, sustainability, and digital culture, while also creating space for conversations around ethics, inclusion, and social impact.

As a blogger who usually navigates food, travel, and city stories, stepping into a global tech gathering felt like entering a wider conversation about how the world is being shaped. I found myself especially drawn to sessions focused on technology for a better world, where startups and experts spoke about accessibility, community support, and building tools that respond to real needs. The focus was less on scale for scale’s sake and more on responsibility, listening, and designing for people first.

Health care technology appealed to me on a personal level because of my background in health care. Discussions around patient-centred systems, ethical use of data, and technology that supports clinicians rather than replacing human connection felt both practical and hopeful. There was a shared understanding that innovation in this space carries weight, and that progress has to be measured not only in efficiency, but in how it supports dignity and continuity of care.

Attending Web Summit Vancouver as media offered a different rhythm to the experience, one that moved between structured sessions and the quieter, more personal moments around the table. The media breakfasts and lunches became some of my favourite parts of the week for the conversations that unfolded naturally over food and drinks.

Between panels and keynotes, the atmosphere across the venue felt quietly charged. Conversations flowed easily in corridors, lounges, and dining areas, often circling back to the same question of how to build things that matter. Experiencing the summit through a media lens made those interactions feel just as important as the formal programming.

Web Summit Vancouver left me with a sense of optimism grounded in people, not just platforms. It was a reminder that behind every piece of technology are individuals trying to make their work meaningful.

Web Summit returns to Vancouver from May 11 – 14, 2026. Tickets are on sale now.
