Here’s what’s happening in the food scene in Vancouver. You’ll find some new restaurant takeout options, new virtual happy hour drink ideas, and more.

New Restaurant Takeout Options

Gotham Steakhouse & Bar launches upscale take-out

Gotham Steakhouse & Bar has reopened its doors for upscale take-out featuring a selection of meaty entrees, appetizers, and side dishes designed to be finished at home, in addition to fully cooked, ready-to-eat dishes and desserts.

For a limited period, customers will receive 20-percent-off regular food menu prices as part of an introductory guest appreciation offer.

Orders will be available exclusively for contactless pick-up at the restaurant (615 Seymour Street) with payment required in advance.

Nightingale launches frozen family meals

Expanding on its current take-out and delivery menu options, Nightingale To-Go now offers a selection of family meals, flash frozen for convenience, value and safety, created to nurture and nourish.

Items on the new menu include: Classic minestrone soup with cannellini beans (1 L) – $15; Thai coconut soup with chickpeas, mushrooms, roasted corn (1 L) – $15; Prosciutto lasagne (serves 3-4) – $30; Vegetarian lasagne, (serves 3-4) – $24; Beef bourguignon (serves 3) – $32; Shepherd’s pie (serves 3) – $35; and Tomato braised bison cheek (serves 2) – $28.

Currently, frozen family meals are available to order directly online or by phone or email for pick up, or can be added to delivery orders.

Glowbal, Coast and Italian Kitchen, Trattoria reopen for takeout and delivery

Glowbal Restaurant Group has introduced take-out and delivery service at GlowbalCoast, Italian Kitchen, and Trattoria available daily for contactless pick-up at the individual restaurant locations or for home delivery.

Glowbal is offering a limited menu of West-Coast-inspired comfort foods, including artisanal salads, delectable appetizers and pasta dishes, and hearty mains like slow-braised lamb shank with buttermilk mashed potatoes, halibut and chips, and roasted chicken with market veggies.

The downtown restaurant also has two features on offer: a ‘Family Meal for Four’ ($60) that includes Caesar salad and oven-baked four-cheese rigatoni, plus a bottle of house red or white wine; and a ‘Friday Burger and Beer Combo’ ($14) that includes Glowbal’s signature 9 oz. beef burger paired with a bottle of beer or pop available exclusively for pick-up at the restaurant on Fridays.

Coast invites diners to recreate an upscale sushi experience at home with a selection of handmade nigiri, sashimi, hand-made sushi rolls, and cones available for pickup or delivery.

Featuring sustainably sourced seafood and gluten-free options, the exclusive take-out menu includes a variety of bite-sized classic and signature sushi, all designed to be enjoyed at home.

Italian Kitchen’s new take-out menu boasts a variety of classic and modern pastas and hearty entrees inspired by the Mediterranean. Diners can choose from a selection of fresh insalata and antipasti to start – including an assemble-at-home charcuterie board – main dishes featuring a choice of chicken or veal, and a dozen signature pasta options such as pappardelle ragu, seafood linguine, and wild mushroom gnocchi.

The Trattoria menu features Italian dishes designed for sharing – including classic pasta platters, fresh Mediterranean-inspired salads, and forno-baked thin-crust pizzas.

New Virtual Happy Hour Drink Ideas

AriZona Hard Green Tea

Granville Island Brewing Watermelon Lager and Island Cerveza

Granville Island Brewing has launched two new seasonal brews, Watermelon Lager and Island Cerveza.

To get the word out about the new brews, and support their friends and neighbours in BC’s arts, entertainment and film industries during these challenging times, Granville Island Brewing hired a local crew and actors to create two commercials, produced and filmed entirely without anyone leaving their homes. Check out the videos below.
