Tofino Oyster Fest fits naturally into a fall trip to the coast, giving visitors a reason to slow down and experience the town through food and community. Spread over several days, the festival unfolds across social gatherings, chef-led tastings, and competitive shucking.

The festival opened with the Mermaid’s Ball, where guests arrived in ocean-inspired outfits and playful costumes. Effingham Oysters were served throughout the night (and throughout the festival), both raw and cooked, with shuckers working continuously. Live music kept the energy going throughout the kick-off event.

The Oyster Festival Gala brought chefs and community together for a tasting-focused evening along with a friendly competition for Best Tofino Oyster of 2025. Wind Cries Mary received the top vote for their Chicken Fried Oyster, which stood out for its crisp coating and tender oyster, finished with honey, butter, dill, and caviar. Other dishes offered a range of preparations showcasing how local kitchens work creatively with oysters.

Shucker’s Showdown closed out the festival with champion shuckers competing for the Tofino Shucker title. The event was lively and welcoming, with shared tables and steady trays of oysters marking the end of the weekend.

Funds raised during the festival supported Redd Fish Restoration Society and Food Bank On The Edge, underscoring the connection between local food, environment, and community care.

We stayed at Hotel Zed Tofino during the festival, which worked well as a base between events. The property offered amenities to support rest and relaxation, including a rainforest hot tub, a mini disco, and a tucked-away 80s arcade. Returning to the hotel felt like part of the weekend rather than a break from it.
