Last week, Starbucks introduced two new, limited available Cold Foam Tea Lemonades. Inspired by the beauty of sunrise and sunset, the two featured drinks are the Starbucks Summer Sunrise Cold Foam Tea Lemonade and the Starbucks Summer Sunset Cold Foam Tea Lemonade.
Disclosure: I am a Starbucks Canada media partner and receive complimentary credit to try new menu items.
What is Starbucks Cold Foam?
Description: According to the company, Starbucks Cold Foam is frothed cold instead of hot by blending nonfat milk until it is smooth, creating layers of creamy texture and flavour without the cream (contains dairy). Beverages with cold foam are served with strawless lids so that customers can savor the velvety cold foam with every sip.
Taste Test: I loved the Starbucks Cold Foam which was frothy, cold, smooth, and somewhat dry. The foam wasn’t rich nor sweet. It added a fun creamy texture to the beverages.
Starbucks Summer Sunrise Cold Foam Tea Lemonade
Description: The Summer Sunrise Cold Foam Tea Lemonade features a tropical pineapple infusion and lemonade that’s sweetened with classic syrup. The drink is then topped with a cold foam that is infused with Teavana Passion Tango Tea.
Taste Test: The pineapple flavours definitely come through in this drink complimented with the tangy lemonade. I found it very refreshing and not too sweet. It’s the kind of drink that would be nice to enjoy in the morning during the summer.
Appearance: I thought that the drink was very beautiful with the yellow ombre look. It certainly evoked the images of a beautiful, dreamy sunrise.
Nutrition: A Tall (12 fl oz) has 110 calories, 0 grams of fat, 28 grams of carbohydrates and essentially no caffeine.
Price: A Tall is $4.25; Grande is $4.75; Venti is $5.25; and Trenta is $5.75.
Overall Rating: 4/5 and I would have this again!
Starbucks Summer Sunrise Cold Foam Tea Lemonade
Description: The Summer Sunset Cold Foam Tea Lemonade has the same ingredients as the Summer Sunrise except with a few additions. The drink also includes Teavana Passion Tango Tea (to give it that deep pink hue). Like the Summer Sunrise, the drink is then topped with a cold foam that is infused with Teavana Passion Tango Tea.
Taste Test: With the Summer Sunset, the flavours are deeper and more intense with the addition of the Teavana Passion Tango Tea. I personally prefer the Summer Sunrise which is more light and refreshing to me.
Appearance: The Cold Tea is infused with Passion Tango Tea and this results in a slightly pink foam. This does not give much contrast to the deep pink coloured Summer Sunset beverage.
Nutrition: Like the Summer Sunrise, A Tall (12 fl oz) Summer Sunset has 110 calories, 0 grams of fat, 28 grams of carbohydrates and essentially no caffeine.
Price: A Tall is $4.25; Grande is $4.75; Venti is $5.25; and Trenta is $5.75.
Overall Rating: 3/5 as the flavours were too intense for my liking.
Bottom Line
I’m a fan of the Summer Sunrise and have reordered the drink since the initial review. I also really like the Cold Foam and would be interested in having it again in the future.
