Spice Waala specializes in street food with flavors inspired by Calcutta and Delhi, including the signature Kathi Rolls ($7.50) and a variety of Indian snacks, such as Aloo Tikki Chaat ($5.50), Bhel Puri ($4.50), and Masala Aloo ($3.50). A specialty soft-serve flavor will rotate monthly ($5.50), and the Mango Lassi (aka “liquid gold”) ($3.50) is not to be missed.

The acclaimed restaurant group opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Capitol Hill in 2019, followed by a second in Ballard in 2021. The Columbia City expansion results from founders Dr. Aakanksha Sinha and Uttam Mukherjee, area residents, recognizing an absence of Indian culinary offerings in the district, even though it’s one of the most diverse in Seattle.

A key component of Spice Waala’s mission is its commitment to social justice and addressing food insecurity in the neighborhoods its locations serve. It has donated over 200 meals a week for over three years to those in need through programs such as the Rainier Valley Food Bank, Asian Counseling & Referral Services (ACRS), Lifelong and Global Acts of Compassion. To date, Spice Waala’s own Bhojan program has also provided over 42,000 meals to neighbors in need.

Spice Waala Columbia City is located in 5024 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA.
