New Espresso Blend at McCafe Canada

Since the introduction of McCafé in 2011, the brand has expanded into grocery stores, launched as a standalone café in Toronto, and given away millions of cups of free coffee to Canadians – but there’s no stopping there!

The next step in the evolution of McCafé is a new espresso bean blend to deliver the ultimate coffee experience for customers.  This past week, I was invited to an elevated specialty coffee cupping to learn more about their new specialty bean blend and to try their revamped beverages brewed from their new state-of-the-art Swiss equipment.  Anne Parks, McCafé Menu Directorwas at the event to guide us through this unique coffee experience.

All of McCafé’s speciality coffee beans are from Rainforest Alliance Certified Farms, which means the beans are grown and harvested with the highest respect and standards for people, wildlife and the environment.  This new blend is made from 100% Ararbica beans from well-known coffee growing regions in Indonesia, Central and South America.  The new recipe was developed by a team of espresso experts based on its aroma, flavour, body and taste.  It was then vetted and approved through a series of taste panels held across the country.

New state-of-the-art Swiss equipment will be installed in approximately 1,200 restaurants nationwide over the next year.

At the cupping event, I tried McCafé’s three revamped drinks – espresso, cappuccino, and latte.  And of course, the perfect pairing to a delicious coffee is a scrumptious pastry!

As a latte lover, I felt like I could be persuaded to the cappuccino side.  It was so wonderfully smooth.

I regularly buy the mini chocolatine from McCafé, so I was excited to see these small favourites at the event.  Made with all butter and filled with semi-sweet chocolate, it’s a lot of yummy in every bite.

Another delicious pastry is the raspberry mini pastry made with real raspberries.

While the French croissant was a wonderful flaky treat, the gluten free chocolate chunk brownie was a tasty surprise.  It is made by Toronto’s famous bakery, Dufflet, and is absolutely decadent, rich, chewy and chocolaty.  Highly recommended.
