Le Crocodile by Rob Feenie has long been part of Vancouver’s fine dining conversation, known for their French approach and attentive service. I visited for a weekday lunch, when the restaurant offers a mid-day menu alongside a rotating prix-fixe option.

The restaurant is currently running a weekday lunch promotion, Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, with 50% off all bottles of Champagne. It is a thoughtful addition to the experience, especially if you are looking to explore their Champagne list in a more accessible way.

The sommelier team guided us through the selection, and we went with Drappier Brut Champagne Carte d’Or. It opened with soft fruit notes, showing red cherry and stone fruit, with a gentle finish that worked well across the meal.

We started with Small Victory Demi Baguette, which arrived warm with PEI butter and Maldon salt. It was simple, but I found myself reaching for another piece between courses without thinking.

There was also Le Crocodile Crackers with Foie Gras which was a scrumptious amuse bouch.

Their lunch prix-fixe consists of 3 courses for $55 per person.

From the prix-fixe, the Red & Green Endive Salad had a pleasant contrast between bitterness from the endive and sweetness from the apples and candied walnuts. The Roquefort added a sharp note that brought everything together without overwhelming the plate.

The Steak Frites followed, with a well-cooked bavette and a peppercorn sauce that added richness without taking over. The fries were crisp and consistent, the kind you keep eating even after you feel done.

For dessert, the Pot De Creme Au Chocolat was smooth and settled, with a chocolate flavour that felt complete without being overly sweet. It was a quiet finish to the prix-fixe.

Outside of the set menu, we also tried a few additional dishes. The Foie Gras Terrine came with seasonal confiture and toasted brioche. I noticed how the sweetness of the confiture balanced the richness of the foie gras, making each bite feel measured.

The Selection Of Caviar With Classic Accompaniments was served with potato rosti. The texture of the rosti added a gentle crispness, and I found myself slowing down to take smaller bites and appreciate the contrast.

For mains, the Roasted Sablefish stood out for its tenderness, with a yuzu butter sauce that added a light citrus note. The fingerling potatoes and vegetables rounded out the plate in a straightforward way.

The Dover Sole was deboned tableside, which added a sense of occasion. The herb beurre blanc complemented the fish with a smooth finish, allowing the natural flavour of the sole to remain the focus.

There was a refreshing Peach Sorbet as a palate cleanser.

I also had the St Tropez Tea, a non-alcoholic option with Earl Grey, peach, and lemon. It was refreshing and worked well alongside the richer dishes, offering a break between bites.

This lunch experience was overall solid with dishes that reflected a classic approach rather than chasing trends. It was the kind of experience where the pacing, service, and food all aligned in a steady way.

Le Crocodile is located at 909 Burrard St #100, Vancouver, BC.
