Kawaii Salad Vancouver: Healthy Salads with Japanese-Style Dressing

Kawaii Salad is a new food company operating out of Coho Commissary that specializes in healthy, nutritious salads with Japanese-style dressing.

The founders of Kawaii, Keiko Iijima and Yasuyo Kawamoto, are originally from Japan and wanted to create salads like the ones they enjoyed at home.

They found there was a lack of Japanese-style salad dressings in Vancouver to pair with their salads so they decided to create a new business that offers these.

The concept of Kawaii Salad is to offer fresh, high quality salads with a bright, visual appeal. They also launched a line of Kawaii Sweets featuring Japanese flavours but less sugar.

WHAT I TRIED

  • Vegan Salad with Sesame Dressing ($11.50)
  • Chicken Salad with Beet-licious Dressing ($12.50)
  • Butter Cookies ($3.50 for 6): Matcha, Hojicha, Yuzu, and Black Sesame

I honestly was impressed with how FRESH, cool, crisp and refreshing the salad ingredients were. I can’t remember the last time where I had a prepared salad that had such quality ingredients.

The salads were definitely tasty as the dressings (one beet-based and the other sesame-based) were very good. Flavourful salads but well-balanced and also still quite pretty even after you pour the contents onto the dish.

They are also very filling with 36 grams of protein.

The butter cookies were nicely buttery and crunchy. These make for nice treats to go along with a coffee or tea. I think they’re priced a bit cheaper compared to other places in Vancouver which offer these types of butter cookies.

I actually couldn’t finish both salads in one day so I had the second salad the next day and it was still very fresh.

Overall, I really enjoyed Kawaii Salad’s offerings and would recommend them. Find them on Doordash, Ubereats, Skip the Dishes and Ritual.
