iCafe has reopened in Vancouver as a food court concept called iCafe Express at City Square Shopping Centre. iCafe Express has the same owners as iCafe Restaurant (formerly at Heather and West Broadway) and offers Hong Kong-style quick serve meals.

On the menu are Baked Dishes, Grilled Dishes, Noodle Combos, Soup Noodles, Lunch Combos, Afternoon Tea Items and more.

We tried them out on their first day of opening and ordered our iCafe favourites which are the Baked Pork Chop on Rice ($16.50) and Singapore Style Pan Fried Vermicelli ($18).

Both dishes arrived piping hot in takeout containers. The Baked Pork Chop on Rice featured tender pork chops in a tomato-based sauce, layered over rice, and topped with a golden, bubbly cheese layer. It’s a comforting dish that is sweet and tangy. The sauce could have been richer but it was OK.

The Singapore Style Pan Fried Vermicelli was delicious as well, with a fragrant curry seasoning and reasonable portions of shrimp, BBQ pork and vegetables to noodles. The noodles were perfectly stir-fried, maintaining a light, fluffy texture without being too oily.

Hot drinks were included with the entrees and we had the signature Hong Kong-Style Milk Tea and a hot lemon tea. Cold drinks are extra $1.

Portions and quality of the food seem reasonable. Overall, a good experience at iCafe Express for their first day of operations! Nice to see them back and I would revisit them again in the future.
