I had the opportunity to try the coolest summer mashup treat in Vancouver at Brewery and the Beast last week: the Jalapeño Honey Ice Cream Fried Chicken Skin Sando.
The treat is a collaboration between Commercial Drive’s Downlow Chicken Shack (specializing in Nashville Hot Chicken) and Yaletown’s Mister Artisan Ice Cream (liquid nitrogen ice cream.
The fried chicken skin substitutes a traditional cookie/water for the ice cream sandwich. The ice cream is a Jalapeño Honey flavour which is inspired by the DL Chicken sauce.
Altogether, I found the combination to be a delicious salty, sweet, and spicy treat with an indulging textural contrast from the super crispy fried chicken skin.
