Cora, a New-American wine bar, has officially opened its doors at 20 Cornelia Street in the West Village. This intimate new addition, from the team behind Figure Eight, offers a seasonal menu with creative takes on classic dishes, complemented by one of New York City’s most extensive wine programs focused on North American producers. Guests can enjoy Cora’s inviting atmosphere, which includes a cozy seven-seat bar, six dining tables, and a heated backyard patio.
The kitchen, led by Executive Chef Joseph Bliffen, Pastry Chef Janice Sung, and Sommelier Emmeline Zhao, combines expertise honed at acclaimed restaurants with a playful approach to flavour.
The menu showcases seasonal produce and features dishes such as Sunflower Pull Apart Rolls served with cultured butter, Tilefish Crudo with cherries and avocado, and Beef Tartare topped with salsa verde and cured yolk.
Larger plates bring inventive touches to familiar dishes. The Berkshire Collar is paired with cabbage, peppers, and Asian pear, while the Whole Trout Milanese is accompanied by smoked gribiche and watercress. A cheese selection and desserts round out the experience, including Moses Sleeper cheese with grilled grapes and pickled currants, and Sweet Corn Ice Cream with plum jam and salted plum.
Cora’s beverage program emphasizes wines from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with a focus on sustainable winemakers and underrepresented voices, including women and BIPOC producers. Nearly 20 wines are available by the glass, with selections rotating regularly.
Designed for intimate dining, Cora offers walk-in seating for most guests, with a few reservations available through Resy. The combination of a curated wine list, inventive dishes, and a welcoming environment creates a dining destination that reflects the charm of the West Village while celebrating contemporary North American cuisine.
